YOUR DAILY DIVE: Holy Navigation

But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I am going away. For if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you, but if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong concerning sin and righteousness and judgment–concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will see me no longer; and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been condemned. "I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. For he will not speak on his own authority, but will speak whatever he hears, and will tell you what is to come. He will glorify me, because he will receive from me what is mine and will tell it to you. (John 16:7-14, NET)

The disciples had walked and talked with Jesus for several years. They had grown to love Him deeply and couldn’t imagine life without Him. In response to their fear and concern, Jesus promised His disciples that they would not be left alone to fend for themselves in a world that hated them. In fact, He said it was to their advantage that He leave them so that He could send Holy Spirit, third Person of the Triune God to help them navigate life without His physical presence.

APPLICATION for today's Christ-follower:

Good news Christ-followers! God didn’t abandon us to fend for ourselves in this sin-sick world. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, the Holy Spirit takes up residence in us to help us navigate life. If we are willing to let Him take the wheel, He promises to lead us to God's truth every day until He leads us home to Heaven. Seek the Lord with an obedient heart. By His Spirit, He will lead you through whatever comes your way and God will be glorified.

Thank You for not leaving me to navigate this crazy and often frightening world on my own. I believe that the Holy Spirit indwells me. I believe that He who is in me is greater than he who is in the world. Give me ears to hear Your truth and an obedient heart to follow You as You guide me by Your Spirit. In Jesus' name and for His glory I pray. Amen.
