The Most Important Thing   to Know About K.D.

"I believe that Jesus Christ paid the price for my sin on the Cross some 2,000 years ago. He was crucified and dead. On the third day He was resurrected and He now sits at the right hand of the Father and intercedes on my behalf. Putting my trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior, I recognize that it is by grace through faith in Him alone that I have assurance of eternal life with God (Ephesians 2:8). Through the ministry of the Holy Spirit my heart beats for the Lord and it is my heart's desire to please Him and to live my life according to His Word and will."

Today, the Lord is weaving K.D.'s journalistic experience, communications skills, and theological training together to teach God's Word and serve as President of Deep End Ministries, a teaching and discipleship non-profit committed to helping thinking Christians move beyond the basics of the faith into a never-ending odyssey of God’s Character and Truth. She is also author of Would I Really Marry My Cat?! (WestBow Press, 2017), a raw and sometimes ridiculous exploration of faith that leads to a simple yet profound truth: Life as a Christ-follower is not always a “charmed” life. It is a strategically designed, intentionally lived testimony of God’s trustworthiness no matter one’s circumstances. K.D. also authors The Deep End blog.

"Shift... Change"...That best defines the life that the Lord has designed for Kristen "K.D." Stewart. Born during the controlled chaos of a hospital shift change, K.D. has lived for more than four decades learning how to not only survive but thrive in the “controlled chaos” of our cosmos—a topsy-turvy world that can so easily and unexpectedly shift and change under our feet, but always under the watchful eye of the Lord.

Raised in Wyoming—where God used the wide open spaces, the ever-shifting winds, and wild weather changes to build Kristen’s gritty determination and indomitable spirit for adventure—Kristen spent her 20’s and early 30’s digging for truth as a television news journalist. A career of constant shifts (from covering a hurricane one day to miracle heart surgery the next) and changes (rebuilding her life in a new city every 2-3 years), broadcast journalism taught K.D. three critical life skills: press in; press on; and tell good stories along the way.

In 2007, the Lord did it again… shift… change... calling K.D. to seminary. At the age of 40, she made the bold (and terrifying) move to Dallas, TX to pursue her Master of Theology (Th.M.), focusing on Old Testament studies and biblical Hebrew. In her four years of study—a season which she enthusiastically calls “the hands-down best season of my life” despite its grueling demands and financial drain—K.D. learned to thrive in the “deep end” with the Lord.
